Philippines Medical Mission deploys TIB

For many years now the Rotary Clubs of Illawarra Sunrise and Glendale, with the support of others from different ends of the globe, have been working together to send a medical mission to the outer islands of the Philippines. In 2018 they decided to also look at adding educational value there by trialing Teacher in a Box in a school.

The following year they ordered 4 more and Rotarian John Bilboe advised these have also “been a great hit and have great up lift to those schools who received them”. He said that the schools “are on the outer ring of the Cities and would never be able to have this resource to assist them in learning”.

  1. John Bilboe says:

This year 2020 the Rotary Club of Illawarra Sunrise D9675 with the other Rotary partneers made our 16th visit to the Philippine on our annual Medical/Dental mission. With the assistance of our sister club Seaton UK and their District we were able to purchase 4 of these units and ship them over to Bacolod in time for our mission. These have been a great hit and have great up lift to those schools who received them; they are on the outer ring of the Cities and would never be able to have this resource to assist them in learning. Like the news report says it is a relative cheap method of getting this information and technology to those outlying areas. Much praise to the team that developed this system, Jeanette Johnstone and their Rotary Team of Brisbane.
